With the help of Shaun at Bennett’s Bait and Tackle, Birdee has decided to setup a “Mineral Site” out front of her stand to monitor the deer in the area she will be hunting in the Fall. Shaun suggested Adrenaline products and he set her up with a 3 part system. One is a site prep liquid, the second is the mineral salts themselves and the third is what they call a Glu.
We prepped the site by scruffing the ground and preparing it for the goods to go down.
We hung the Moultrie and moved off and left it for a week. While we were away this lady swung by for a visit. Nothing exciting but at least she knows there are deer around.
The Moultrie I40 has been a great camera. This will be its 3rd season and we are still on the second set of batteries.
We went back to apply the second steps of the program. Down went the minerals and covered in the Glu.
This stuff smells tasty and you can see it a long way away.
We gave it another week and slid back out to check the camera. We were a bit shocked.
Not a giant bear by any means but Mama could be around somewhere!
A week later we checked on things again to find not a ton of activity but a young fawn and doe had visited the site.
We’ll keep updating throughout the summer as anything interesting comes through.
