Back to the banks of the St. Lawrence…

Hosted a pair of anglers down on the banks of the Larry for some tackle testing Carp.  These fellas had seen some of our reports on the site and wanted in on the action!

After a pitstop at Tim Horton’s we were setup by around 7:30.  The baiting began and it didn’t take too long for the fish to begin to show themselves.  Crashing and frolicking Carp were all over the surface.

When a line alarm screamed at us we were on it!

The result…

While explaining a bit about how the hair rig actually works another fish took off on us.

Despite this guy’s obvious shortcomings in his choice of hockey teams he did ok on the day!

He was thrilled to land this brute!

We did run into a run of hookpulls,  odd really.  The fish would run then just come unpegged.  When talking to a few guys in the area they experienced the same thing.  My theory is the fish just weren’t mowing the bait down and were feeding slower leading to not fully taking the bait in.

After 9 in a row dropped they insisted I take a turn on a rod.  Nice guests!  Well sorry fellas!  They were just thrilled to see a Larry monster.  This is the longest fish I’ve ever caught without a doubt.  It’s tail had to be 12 inches high!

It’s always fun to see peoples reaction to these fish.  The boys went away smiling and thinking maybe next time it’ll be there turn to land a giant!
