“Big” Jim McLaughlin. No one has done more for fishing in North America in my books. His large stature is nothing compared to the large heart that Jim exhibits daily for everyone. We all should strive to be like Jim. I know I’m trying my best.
Jim has been burdened the last 2 plus years with Cancer….his spirit and attitude has been more than admirable. While he is self employed with no benefits his fishing family has stepped up big time to give back to the man that has given so much to us all.
This was the second evening planned in Jim’s support, Birdee and I were thrilled to be a small part of it again.
Bob Izumi was the emcee and did a great job.
Dave Mercer from “Facts of Fishing” took the mic for a bit and was classic Dave, funny stuff!
Big Jim took the mic and you could hear a pin drop. His honesty through in telling his story with this ordeal had you roaring with laughter to welling up with tears for the big guy. His message in the end was to take care of yourself as without your health…you have nothing.
At the end of the evening the large cheque was presented to Jim and his wife Tammy. $53,000 plus was raised. Simply unreal.
It was a fantastic night, one I will remember forever.
