Newbies on the Gar hunt…..

Though this Spring has been a tough one weather wise and not always the best conditions for chasing Gar we did the best we could.  Though we didn’t harass them as much as we’d like to looking back the results were great.

The log book shows 6 days on the water with two of those being half days.  To grace the gunnels of the Lund were 9 fish over 50 inches and 11 fish between 48 and 50 inches.  Satisfying to make those kind of numbers happen in a tough Spring!

The Jackall Cherry 0 Footer stole the show most days, sight fished as always.

The photo highlights…

Mark Anderson from Outdoor Canada has an upcoming piece of Fly Fishing for em so we gave it a go, smaller fish but man was he pumped about it!

Steve Moss from Mossy’s Smoke Shop booked us for an afternoon.  His son Riley loved the day once he eclipsed his Pops bigger fish with this one…

Had Ontario Out of Doors Justin Hoffman aboard one morning.  He has a feature piece for next years Fishing Annual on the Gar.  We had a blast!  Justin was on the camera all morning except when he took 5 minutes to get himself a 50 incher.  Gonna have to wait til the article hits the press to see the rest of his awesome pics,  this teaser just for now…

Highlight day so far was an afternoon I had RJ Sr. aboard.  He was on the board quick then ignored anything that wasn’t a goodun!

I took a turn too!

Birdee joined me one afternoon, she had invited a good friend of ours to join us.  Laura-Lee took to these fish real quick.  Big laughs in the Lund this afternoon.

Still hoping to get out for them a few more days but if the years totals end as is, that’s ok too!
