Quinte Gold….

Recently spent a day down on the mecca of Walleye, the Bay of Quinte.  The fishing has been wild down there this year with frigid temps giving the area early and good ice.  We wanted a piece of that fishing!

My good buddy Rob has tried the Q in the past with moderate success.  We met two other fellas down that way, Brandun and Lenny.  Both are great sticks and hopes were high we’d whack em!

Well we did, icing nearly 30 walleyes as a group.  No 10 lbers but lots of nice quality fish.

Jigging raps did most of the damage for the other guys, I stuck to my old faithful jigging spoon.  Early morning we set up on a steep break that leads to the main channel, by mid day we had moved to a trench that feeds off the main channel.  That move mid day paid off in spades.

The K-Drill in the photo above is an AWESOME addition to my ice fishing gear.  All other augers be gone!  Here’s a short clip showing it in action…..

Can’t wait to spend a few more days down there soon…..
