Here Laker Laker!

2015 was the Summer of the Laker on the Lund.  Any day off from guiding we spent floating around Big Rideau taking turns on dropping down the jig.  Often an eager biter they always give a great account of themselves once the battle topside begins.

3 and 4 inch Swimbaits on 3/4 to 1 oz Jigs is standard fare to entice them.  Heavily relying on electronics to make sure we are on fish and from there it’s really up to them!

Clients who have never caught a Trout before at all are always thrilled to land their first.  I keep a tight rein on what I like to see kept or released.  Once I explain the importance of releasing the larger natural trout they always agree.

Was able to get Ariel on a fish once she decided to get out of the lake!

My folks joined us most Sundays as it was deemed Family Day on the Lund.  RJ Sr. never takes long before reaching for a stick!

I think my Mom has caught one other fish in her life.  A carp from the St. Lawrence a few years ago.  She wanted in on the action.  Pure comedy as she talked this one topside.

In classic Birdee fashion this year, she decided to fish for a bit.  Snatching the Crucial from my hands and drops down the jig twice.  The second time this came up attached to it.  Her new PB Laker.

Had a bunch of buddies clear their schedules for the day and had a blast.  We beat up on the Lakers badly this day.

See ya next May!
