While most trout anglers aren’t big fans of the Grey Trout. I personally am a big fan of the Lake Trout, great battles and usually eager feeders. Not much matches the strike on a jigging spoon in deeper water by a quality laker.
Joined by a few fellow anglers today on one of our stocked lakes in Eastern Ontario, we hit the ice in -23 temps. The sun rose and made for a real pleasant day on the ice. While the bite was slow today I kept my head down and kept jigging. I was setup right on the edge that slides from 40 to 80 FOW. I jigged in the 35 to 40 foot range. A nice big red bar appeared on the Vexilar and after a 5 minute dance this laker gave me the bite I was looking for today. The tug of war was a good one.
A great natural laker that stretched the tape to just under 30 inches.
