Kickin back for some crappies….

With Saturdays intense gar fishing we decided to just kick back and relax a bit on Sunday.  Crappie were on the docket to fill the void.  We decided to fish them in a different style today by looking for them in last years standing dead weed beds.  We always tend to look shallow but today we decided not to fish in water shallower than 9 feet.
We found a nice lush weedbed and threw out the marker buoy to mark it.  Slid the boat back off of it and dropped anchor.  Yes, I pulled out my anchor!  Sat back and took in the sun and chatted as out floats slowly slid under the surface.  Being that we were fishing in 10 to 12 feet of water we set our bobber stops at 6 feet.  Phil was using his trusty tubes and I was flinging 2 inch Fin-S minnows on a 1/16 Nuckleball jig.
We kept 10 for a snack with a great average size today of 11.5 inch clones.
Nice relaxing day with a good buddy.
